Tribute To Those Toiling Tough

This blog is a tribute to those farmers who toil to feed empty stomaches, but are fed up and frustrated with a system which mocks at their toils.

Mahanadi River Dispute - Flood is the major concern, not flow reduction

Yearly inflow to Hirakud varies a lot. But it is true that inflow is continuously declining. The 10-yr moving average in the attached graph clearly shows a declining trend.

But, isn't it true that such decline is true in case of most rivers?

Our greed and climate change are thinning flows in almost all rivers.

Flow reduction is only a minor concern. Storages upstream of Hirakud and a total lack of information exchange is going to doom us. Flood in Mahanadi is going to be a far bigger threat.

Unfortunately, you or your engineers have not given a thought to that.

Your government's Water Resources Department Government of Odisha has many top engineers. I hope they will appropriately give it a thought and brief you, the people of Odisha and the nation.
